“The Artist Makes Love to the Art”
His previous series being fully abstract, the artist now takes it a step further (or back?) and opens the space for his mind to wonder and ponder about the cosmic expression. By interacting figuratively with the abstract and allowing defined shapes to emerge, maps are drawn and a story unfolds itself. Through simple shapes and figures, a symbolic language develops. The observing mind attaches to the suggestion and creates meaning in the beholder. Will it be perceived as an anker or a prison as described by Søren Kierkegaard: “If you name me, you negate me. By giving me a name, a label, you negate all the other things I could possibly be.”
Squares, symbolising the categorising aspect of the mind, pull one out of (or into?) the chaotic harmonic expression of creativity itself. When the mind is there to interfere with the process, the state of flow is interrupted. Self-doubt and creative blocks lure around the corner. How will the artist respond to this confrontation? Will the artist (re)discover the transformative and expansive capacities of the mind or will he fall prey to self-limiting beliefs?

During these two weeks, a selection of works from my first two solo exhibitions ‘Cosmic Energy’ and ‘Cosmic Stirring’ will be on display in the castle of the provincial domain Rivierenhof. Besides my paintings, you can also enjoy the figurative work of Michael Albers.
The castle is located in the middle of the park, next to the large pond.
Open every day of the week and weekends between 10 and 17h.

The content of the exhibition will be created in this period inside the gallery, which is transformed into an open atelier/living space. I’ll be present every day to demonstrate both the process of painting and the techniques that enable me to go into the state of (no)mind I need to be in to enter the process. Mainly yoga postures, breathing methods and meditation. This performance will be shared via Instagram.
