The mind camouflages in all shades, making us believe the illusion, setting us free. Sometimes it’s a fight, sometimes a dance of miracles. What is true? What is real?

The foolish artist will attempt to take the reins by locking himself up in the square, a literal box, both within and without. He will confront the mind and explore its transformational capacities. Whether or not he finds freedom or imprisonment, is to be seen…

THE ARTIST MAKES LOVE TO THE ART

“The Artist Makes Love to the Art” is the first venture into the realm of video art. By mixing abstract – previously canvas-focused – expression with body painting and story-telling, the lines between art and artwork blur. The viewer is invited to witness the union of creativity and profound human connection, a space in which this project transcends its genre and becomes a testament to the transformative power of love.

Shot by Wim Symoens, edited by Magnús Sveinn Jónsson and with a soundtrack by Han Swolfs, the video was first exhibited at FoMu Antwerp within Vincen Beeckman’s exhibition “Ping Pong” in 2023. Since then, it has become the initiating spark for more projects involving body painted people, music and dance.
